Cam finally lost his very first tooth! He is our very patient child, so naturally, he let it just come out on it's own. He knows that mommy and daddy are the "Tooth Fairy", so he was left 4 quarters, per his request. He thought that he would be able to get more things with 4 quarters intead of 1 dollar bill. I explained that they were the same, but he still wasn't buying it!

Back to School!

My little ones are finally in the same school! Camden has really stepped into the "big brother" role. He is very proud that his little sister is now with him. Every morning he takes her hand and makes sure she gets to class okay. It is so sweet to see them walking in together!

British Soccer Camp

Cam did a week long soccer camp this summer. Every year they have members from the British Soccer League come and do these camps for the kids. It was the hottest week of the summer. Every day we were just drenched, but he really enjoyed it and the coaches were amazing with the kids. Even though he really liked it, he still says he's sticking to baseball!

Ballet Recital

Well, our little ballerina had her second year recital and they performed to "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now". Yes, she is a big girl now. I can tell that Kensley is really settling into her little character and personality. She is full of life and loves every minute of it!

Kensley's Ears Pierced...Daddy's Heart Pierced!

We somehow convinced Daddy to let Kensley get her ears pierced while we were on vacation in Florida last week. He has always said that she had to wait until she turned eight years old. She did so good. Not even one tear was shed...well, by Kensley anyway! Stuart was getting a little choked up. That's his baby girl growing up!

Well, every year I hope that this year will be different, that my children will fully cooperate for Christmas pictures...and every year they somehow seem to manage the opposite. I've just come to accept the fact that I'm never going to get a really good Christmas picture of my kids. But, I have also come to LOVE the out takes! They are so funny and they just sum them up so well. Merry Christmas to all!

Halloween

Camden wanted to be Annakin Skywalker (sorry to all the Star Wars nerds out there if that is spelled wrong!) and Kensley wanted to be a cupcake. Grandma Briggs made there costumes as she does every year. Kensley always has a tall order. There were no patterns for a cupcake so she winged it and did a great job. They were both so cute.

Fall Family Fun

We had a very fun-filled Halloween this year. We spent the whole day together. We started by carving pumpkins and then made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (heavenly). We also made caramel apples and then per Camden's request, we watched Star Wars. Then later that night we took the kids trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. I was completely exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth it. It was a great day!

Fairy Tale Feet

Kensley had a fairy tale feet parade at her school. You are supposed to decorate your feet like your favorite book and the kids parade down the halls at school. Kensley's favorite book is Pinkalicious, so I made cupcakes for her shoes. It was super cute and the kids had a blast!

Back To School

Well, it was a very quick summer and here we are again. Back to school for Cam, who is now in Kindergarten. He loves his new class, which only has 13 students. This was Kensley's very first day of Pre-K. She has done very well. The first day was a little rough, (mostly for me )but she looks forward to it now. It is very quiet around the house with them gone and I haven't quite figured out how to relax yet, but I'm working on it!

Ballet Recital

Kensley had her very first ballet recital and let me tell you that it was a BIG production. I was very entertained. Kensley did a great job. We could tell that she was a little nervous on stage and that she was looking around the audience for me. She finally saw us at the very end of the finale, right before the curtain closed. She was so cute and we couldn't have been more proud of our little dancer. We got her a bouquet of pink flowers which are currently in a vase by her bed where nobody is allowed to touch them. I don't know what I will do when they start wilting!

We paid quite a bit of money for portaits of Kensley at the ballet studio, but she was in her recital costume and I wanted some shots of her in her ballet clothes, so I went out and bought a king size black sheet and used the light that was shining perfectly through the window that day and took some photographs myself. I thought that they turned out beautifully.

Drum Lessons From Grampy

Some people may know that my dad Steve has been a drummer for many years. He has been in a few bands over the years and was a studio musician for RCA Records. Camden loves the time that he gets to spend with his Grampy playing the drums.

Creative Play "Dough"

Kensley loves to make food items out of Play Dough and today she decided to make some "cookies" for me. They turned out simply marvelous. My compliments to the chef!

Game Ball

This was Camden's last game of the season. The coach gave him the game ball for a couple of great plays he made in the in field that day. Afterwards they had their banquet at CiCi's Pizza and they all received their trophies. It was a special day for Camden!

Tellus Museum

We won tickets to the Tellus Museum at a fundraiser and have been excited to go since we
live so close to it. It was amazing! A lot better than I thought it would be. I was worried that the kids would be freaked out because of the huge dinosaur bones, but they were great and loved it. The planetarium was equally cool. Great family day...we haven't had one in a while.

Kensley's 4th Birthday

Happy Birthday to our sweet girl! I can hardly belive it's been another year. Kensley has grown quite a lot in a year, in many ways. She is still as sassy as can be, and we love her for it. She adores her big brother and is the girliest of girly-girls. Happy Birthday, we love you to pieces!

So, the season is almost over but I thought I would post some photos of their first game. The kids are so cute on the field. Half of them run in different directions and there are a few that slide in every plate. Camden really loves it and is actually getting pretty good.

We had a wonderful Easter this year. We decided to wait until after church to give the kids their baskets and hunt for eggs. I "attempted" to get some good photos that morning outside. Anyone who knows me well, knows that my kids NEVER want to cooperate for picture taking and that I am determined to get good pictures at every possible occasion. You may notice that my son has the same look in every picture we have of him, this is because he refuses to smile! So, despite my picture taking frustrations, we had a great family day together!

Camden's 5th Birthday Party - Spiderman style!

Camden celebrated his 5th birthday this year, which amazes me to no end. I can't believe that my baby boy is already 5 years old. Camden has been such a good child from birth. He is easy going just like his daddy and loves to be organized just like his mommy. He has a very soft heart and thinks about everything. It takes him a very long time to open up to people, which is okay with me...it's good to be cautious of others. He is a great big brother to Kensley and always thinks of her when it counts. Basically we just love him to pieces and are so proud of the little boy that he has become. The party was a lot of fun. Stuart did face painting and the pinata, we ate yummy cake, and the boys all ended up in Camden's room jumping on the bed. Happy Birthday Camden Thomas!

For the last game of the day, I gave each of the kids a can of silly string to make their very own spiderwebs. The ground was really muddy and it was sprinkling a little, but the kids seemed to love it.

Valentine's day this year was full of activities that we had planned. Cookie making turned out to be the most fun. We made them from scratch and the kids did a fabulous job. I resisted the urge to jump in and try to get them to make less of a mess and just let them have fun. Very yummy too!

Kensley is a Sunbeam

Christmas in Michigan

We kind of decided at the last minute that our kids needed to see some real snow on Christmas morning, so off we went to South Haven, Michigan. We rented a cute little cottage and it was just beautiful. We had a tiny tree that we brought from home and opened presents that morning. We were blessed to visit with family also. It was a wonderful little getaway and much needed!

Fun in the SNOW!

This was the kids first time playing in REAL snow. Georgia gets a few flakes every now and then, but nothing sticks. Needless to say, they had a blast. Stuart and I had a great time also. The snow was kind of icy, so we couldn't make a snowman, but we got to sled and just play around on Christmas day. It was a memorable Christmas for sure!

You can't go to Michigan without hitting the outdoor ice rink. Camden loved skating and Kensley was ready to go after the first time around. They were so cute. I didn't know that they made skates that little!

Welcome to the family, Bear!

We have welcomed a new furry member into our family. His name is Bear and I have to say, we could not have asked for a better dog! Camden has found a new best friend. Kensley has taken a little while longer to open up to him, but just yesterday I was vacuuming and looked over and saw her sitting with Bear and she had put her princess tiara on him and covered him up like a baby. It was so cute. He is so well-behaved and mild-mannered and just perfect for our family.

Memory "Lanes"

Meemaw is here visiting for the holidays, so we thought that it would be fun to all go bowling. This was the kids first bowling experience and they had way more fun than I ever thought they would. They were so cute with thier light little bowling balls. It would take like 20 minutes for the ball to make it down the lane to the pins, but they actually beat me...pathetic, I know! Meemaw fell at one point and left with a few bruises, but it was so much fun!

Potato Sack Race Anyone?

The kids decided to start an impromptu potato sack race in their pillow cases. It was so cute that I had to grab my camera. They wanted Daddy to join in so he was a trooper. The kids beat him every time. I'm just glad that no one got injured in the process!

Halloween Fun

This year Halloween brought many parties and fun activities, so the kids were able to wear their costumes many times, which they were more than happy to do. Thanks to Grandma Briggs who had a very tall order this year. She makes the costumes every year and this year Kensley asked to be a mommy kangaroo and Camden wanted to be a sea turtle. She did a great job and the kids were so excited.

Pumpkin Patch Farm

I just love this time of year. We love going to all of the festivals and activities around town. On this trip we went to Pumpkin Patch Farm and Pettit Creek Farms. They loved picking out their very own pumpkins. Camden said, "they're just our size". We did the hayride, petting zoo, & corn maze. I was a little nervous about the corn maze. We had to watch the kids very closely so they didn't take off and get lost. The weather was perfect and a beautiful time was had by all.

Indian Festival

We have kind of made it a tradition to go to The Indian Festival every year since the kids were born. Camden especially loves it. He calls them his "Indian brothers". I told him that his great great grandmother was Cherokee indian, so he is proud of that. Kensley just loves to see the "indian princesses". The dancing is so beautiful. I especially love to watch these little kids that get out there and dance. A great Saturday to spend as a family. Can't wait until next year!

Backyard Campout

We thought that camping out in the backyard would be something fun for us to do as a family. Now, Stuart loves camping and would do it every weekend if given the choice. Myself, on the other hand, doesn't care for nightly outdoor activities. I decided to be brave and participate. Although it was very cold that night, we actually had a great time. The kids certainly loved it. Who knows, maybe we will actually make it to a real campground next time.

Our First Pets

We decided to ease into the whole "pet" thing very slowly and got the kids each a fish. Camden named his fish "Fire" and Kensley named hers" Trina the Ballerina". I have to say, they are much easier to take care of than a cat or dog, however quite boring pets if you ask me. The kids like them and that's all that matters. Sadly, Fire has gone to fish heaven after only 4 days. Camden was quite sad and said, "but there are no fish bowls in heaven Mommy". So, he will be getting a new one shortly. Let's all pray that this one lives a little longer!

Camden's First Day of School

Well, this day came a lot faster than I ever thought it could. For the longest time I felt like school was so far in the distant future that I just didn't have to worry about it. So, here we are on Camden's first day of Pre-K. The day was a little bittersweet for me. The feelings of sadness that my "baby boy" is no longer, and the joy that he is moving on to bigger and better things.
